Campin' Out in the backyard

C caught me during a weak moment yesterday and asked if we could stay outside in the tent that night. I said "Yes." I figured that him and A would probably decide after a few minutes that they weren't too fond of the idea anyway. Nope, C fell asleep after a story and A did her usual rolling everywhere before finally giving in. So there I was in a small pup tent with them right outside our back door. DH was sleeping in the living room with the back window open so he could hear outside. (No room for him and he had to work in the morning anyway.) The kids slept like rocks but I felt like I was up every hour checking to make sure that they weren't too hot or too cold. Then in the middle of the night, the dog directly behind us decided to join in with a dog that had been barking for about a 1/2 hour. How in the world these dogs' owners don't hear them is beyond me. The owners then came out a little bit later but I didn't hear them say anything. What are they doing at 1 or 2 in the morning, I don't know.

Well, I finally fell into a deep sleep a little bit later. I used to love sleeping in the tent growing up. But now, I just feel vulnerable even though it's in my backyard. And the dogs don't help at all. The longer we live here, a privacy fence is looking more and more like an "emergency". :) The cricket sounds were nice though. It was a perfect night for it. The kids had fun and that's what's important!
